No, all data uploaded to our UK, Cloud Infrastructure resides within the UK. All information and data uploaded to your tenancy is centrally stored and secured using 256-bit AES encryption and only leaves your platform once a 3rd party downloads the information.

We can help you meet the DPA and GDPR by following a very strict set of rules. As standard, all of your data is encrypted during transit and at rest using 256-bit AES encryption and each transaction is fully audited to protect personal information against unauthorised access.

Yes! You can manage access and have full visibility of all transfers as an administrator if you have the necessary permissions. The reporting function allows quick and easy filtering on all transactions.

Make sure you have access to the original email sent to you. If you were forwarded an email with a Download link, you may need to contact the original recipient to access the contents.

If you have received a transfer and it prompts you to login straight away, the likelihood is you or someone else has previously set a password.

If you need to reset your password, there is a forgotten password link on the main login page of the file transfer site you are trying to access.

Your Username is normally set to your email address.

You can view the audit for all the transfers you have sent from the Sent Items section under My Transfers. As an admin, you can view all transfer audits under the File Transfers section in the Admin area.

No, every transfer needs an expiry date. An alternate option would be to set a very large expiry date instead.

No, you can send transfers without any files. The requirement is that every transfer should have at least one file or a secure note. So, you can send transfers without a file but with a secure note.

You account might be locked if you went over the failed login attempts limit. You will need to get in touch with your system administrator to unlock your account or wait for a certain amount of time (by default 15 minutes) for it to unlock automatically.

You can use the “Forgot Password” button on the login page to reset your password.

The default web portal URL is but it is possible your company has its own URL. In that case, you will need to contact your system administrator or our support team to get your company’s MFT portal URL.

If you have the right permissions, you will see a My File Shares menu option in the Client area. From here you will be able to create files shares or view the files and folders that have been shared with you.

To send a new transfer, select My Transfers and New from the Client area.

You may receive an email and be unsure whether it’s from AMS File Transfer. Before taking any action it’s important to ensure it’s genuine to protect yourself from phishing or malware attacks. To help here are a few guidelines to distinguish the real from the fake.

Verify the sender

Our notification email address is:, make sure the from address matches exactly. The smallest change can indicate a suspicious email, for greater detail you can also check the email header information.

No attachments will be contained directly in the email

We will never ask you to reply to an email with usernames, passwords or other personal information

Emails are generated from templates to ensure a consistent look and feel. If the formatting has changed from previous emails then pay close attention. Note that administrators are able to legitimately update these templates.

If you don’t trust a link in an email, go directly to your MFT website and access the files


AMS Managed File Transfer is an enterprise solution and offers a high degree of customisation. The sender email address and website addresses may differ from those outlined above. If in doubt contact your trusted administrator or our support team who can help confirm this.

Yes, each of our plans include a base number of users. You can easily add additional users to each plan, allowing you to customise the system to your requirements.

Depending on your requirement, we will get you up and running in a matter of days. We often run web introductions to the service and either train the trainer sessions or direct user training in how to use the software.

No, there are no limits on the amount of guest users you can send to. Guest accounts are free and unlimited.
